LA-based artist Dustin Krapes is a singer, songwriter, and producer originally from the Inland Empire. Driven by an addiction to synthesized sound and songcraft, he has released numerous albums and EPs across various bands and solo projects.
While moody synth pop anchors his latest album Control, Krapes’ work spans genre-blurring electronic terrain, drawing from the likes of krautrock, IDM, hip hop, and alternative rock with a consistent songwriter’s touch and textural curiosity.
He lives in a tranquil cabin by a river running down the foothills of Los Angeles, where he binges with documentaries, stand-up comedy, and coffee while tinkering with analog synths and Ableton Live.
Once, whilst tinkering with his cabin door open, he found himself standing a mere six feet from a bear who had wandered on to his porch. With only the still forest air between them, Dustin calmly and swiftly shut his door. It was then that the bear knew for certain Dustin was not interested in any magazine subscriptions.
